Factor Elara: fast gravel, now available to order

A lot of gravel bikes have chased comfort and versatility. The Elara goes the other way. Factor designed it for one job: going fast on gravel, from smooth, hard-packed dirt to broken, technical race courses. It's now available to order through Rock Cyclery.

Aero, borrowed from the road

The Elara takes what Factor learned from their ONE and OSTRO VAM road bikes and applies it to gravel. The headline is the wide-set fork, inspired by the ONE, which keeps air moving cleanly around the front wheel. A narrow head tube, carefully shaped tube junctions and a smooth down tube complete the picture.

Factor say that, with 45–57 mm race tyres, the frame's aero efficiency is on a par with modern road frames. On long, fast gravel days, that's free speed.

Room for real tyres

Clearance goes up to 57 mm, so you can run anything from fast, narrow race tyres to big, grippy rubber for rough courses. The one-piece frame and slim chainstays make that possible while still taking a 1x chainring up to 52T, or a 2x drivetrain if you prefer.

Race geometry

Compared with Factor's previous gravel bike, the Elara has a longer reach, a lower bottom bracket and less trail. In short: it handles like a race bike, sitting low and stable at speed, with short 423 mm chainstays that keep it lively.

Built as a system

The Elara comes with Black Inc's one-piece Aero Gravel Bar and the Black Inc SIXTY FOUR Gravel wheelset, with a 30 mm internal rim width made for wide tyres. There's also storage built into the down tube for spares.

It comes in six sizes, from 49 to 61, in Virescent Blue or Matte Carbon.

Who it's for

The Elara is for riders who race gravel, or who simply want to ride it as fast as possible. It isn't trying to be a loaded touring bike. One thing for racers to know: the aero fork isn't UCI-approved, which matters only for UCI-sanctioned events. Most gravel races aren't.
