New in: 101 Other Level, Tactic and GSport

We don't add brands to the shop just to fill a rail. Everything we stock has to earn its place, either by doing something better than what we already carry or by giving you a choice you didn't have before. Our three newest names do exactly that.

101 Other Level: more fuel for your money

226ERS remains our go-to for race-day nutrition. 101 Other Level sits right alongside it rather than replacing it, for two reasons.

• Price. Fuelling properly adds up fast. On a long ride you might get through two or three gels an hour, every week. 101 Other Level lets you fuel your training volume without wincing at the till.
• More flavours and formats. Everyone's stomach is different, and the gel you can face at hour four isn't always the one you liked at hour one. Having a second range on the shelf means more ways to find what works for you.

Their gels combine glucose and fructose for quick and steadier energy, with added sodium and potassium. Our advice: try new fuel in training, never for the first time on race day.

Tactic: kit that stands out and fits properly

Tactic have been making cycling clothing in Catalonia since the late 1990s, in their own workshops near Girona. We chose them for three reasons:

• Design. Tactic's kit doesn't look like everything else in the bunch. If you're tired of the same logos on every rider, this is for you.
• Fit and fabrics. Proper race cuts and fabrics that stay comfortable over long, hot days in the saddle.
• Value. It feels like premium kit without the top-tier price tag.

GSport: from classic to bold

GSport design and make their own garments in Xàtiva, near Valencia. Their collection runs from clean, classic kit to bold, eye-catching designs, so it adds a different range of looks next to Tactic rather than more of the same.

As with Tactic, the quality you get for the money is what sold us. Between the two brands there's now a look for every rider, whatever your style.
